Back in France, where 30 days of vacation per year are legally required, Mr. Sarkozy’s trip has faced intense scrutiny, with frequent updates in local media and socialist lawmakers crying elitism.
The biggest stir of the vacation came when the fastidious Frenchman lost his temper at the sight of two photographers, “jumping onto their boat and scolding them loudly in French,” The Associated Press reported. Here’s one of their pics:

It will be the 65th Crawford trip of his presidency, according to Mark Knoller, a CBS News correspondent. With President Reagan’s record for vacation days standing at 436 days, Mr. Bush has plenty of time — 17 months — to exceed that. He’s taken 418 so far.
